1619(b) is the most powerful SSI work incentive.  A double safety net, it protects a person’s Medicaid eligibility if their SSI payments are reduced to $0 by their earned income, and enables them to get SSI payments back, quickly and easily, if their earned income later drops low enough or stops.  To make it even better, 1619(b) has no time limit.  With 1619(b), SSI beneficiaries have nothing to lose if they work full time.
